Spotify has reached over 35 million paid subscribers while Apple Music falls in second place with about 15 million paid subscribers, and Tidal with only 3 million paid subscribers. Spotify clearly dominates the music streaming industry adding about 2 million subscribers a month while Apple adds about half of that.
Can Apple Music still compete?
Data shows that Spotify’s paying customers leave at 1/3 of the rate that they leave Apple. It is said that Apple is in the process of acquiring Jay Z’s, Tidal. Along with this transaction, Apple is planning a full revamp due to the new iPhone software that will be released in the fall. Could this be a turn around for Apple Music? Or has Spotify’s following become too much of a monster to compete with?
